Training Tuesday Tutorial: “Touch”

Your contribution to Paws & Think provides life-changing programs to people and dogs in need! Our donors ensure we can evaluate & register even more therapy teams and help at-risk youth learn life skills while finding shelter dogs their forever homes.

Happy Training Tuesday! This week’s tutorial video will help you teach your dog the “touch” cue. Paws & Think’s Lead Dog Trainer Kimberly Trimpe demonstrates with her dog Frannie, who is a graduate of our Youth-Canine Program. Teaching the “touch” cue will help your dog to learn targeting skills. Kim also talks about the importance of marking the behavior for your dog with positive rewards before adding a verbal cue to ensure your dog can learn the behavior you want.

Paws & Think uses positive reinforcement training methods for all our programs. These videos are to help you learn at home with your dog and to share the benefits of positive reinforcement training methods with our community.
