Missy KingIn 2009, Missy was introduced to Paws & Think’s Founder, Gayle Hutchens, who spoke about the organization at a community event. Missy immediately fell in love with Paws & Think’s mission to foster the power of the human-animal bond. She was involved with Paws & Think in various capacities from 2009 to 2013, serving as Events Chair, Board Secretary, Board Vice President and Board President. In 2013 Missy stepped away from the Board of Directors to pursue a family and has since rejoined.

Missy is an Independent Meeting and Event Manager, overseeing domestic and international meetings in the pharmaceutical, bioscience and financial sectors. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Management and a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs from Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs, and she is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Administration from Notre Dame’s Mendoza School of Business. She also has 15 years of experience working in the meetings and events industry.

Missy is eager to share her previous experiences from Paws & Think and other nonprofit volunteer roles. She has served as Board Secretary for The Giving Sum and has been involved with event planning and fundraising efforts with the Carmel Palladium’s Songbook Gala Committee. Missy is knowledgeable with the grant writing process, having secured a $50,000 grant in 2013 for Paws & Think.

In her free time, Missy volunteers with The Adoption Support Center, acting as a liaison to individuals awaiting adoption. She enjoys spending time with her husband, their five-year-old son, and their Labradoodle puppy, Darby, who Missy hopes will someday become a Paws & Think therapy dog. Missy is an avid reader, loves to ski, enjoys the outdoors, and will never turn down a piece of yellow cake with chocolate icing.
