Ways to Volunteer
Thanks for your interest in helping Paws & Think. We welcome any level of volunteering and are currently looking for volunteers to help with the following:
At Risk Youth – Canine Programs
- Help a youth apply the trainer’s instructions with his/her dog-in-training
- Transport a dog to one of our Youth Programs
- Create kennel cards (for posting at our partnering shelter)
- Provide snacks, keepsakes or certificates, to recognize the youths following training
Service Dog Programs
- Raise a puppy/dog to become a service dog (we provide the training, and you can request to be a co-raiser with another individual/family)
- Puppy-sit for a future service dog, while his/her puppy raiser takes a break
Animal Assisted Therapy / Pet Therapy Programs
Take your certified pet to interact with children and adults in many settings (see a complete list of venues on our website) and:
- Improve a child’s reading skills, by allowing the child to read to your pet
- Help with the rehabilitation of injured Iraq Vets, by assisting in physical therapy
- Assist children through the grieving process, in an upbeat, structured program
- Help a senior reconnect with the world, through the affection of your pet
- Provide comfort to patients and visitors in a hospital setting
Annual Dog Talk Conference
